The Happy Group Story
Bringing Joy and Productivity to the Workplace
The Happy Group was founded in 2019 by Gillian (pronounced: Jill-e-an) Smith when they were inspired to change the way people worked together. Gill has been working since the tender age of 8 with their father in the family retail businesses.

Once they started traditional work, Gill began to realize that people were becoming increasingly dissatisfied with their job. And businesses were finding it harder to keep valuable and consistent employees. Using behavioural and organizational research and decades worth of experience, Gillian decided to devote their life to creating a better work environment. One that balances the needs of the organization with the needs of the employee; to improve productivity, profit, and personal fulfilment.

What We Do
In recent years there has been an increase in job positions going unfilled. Businesses are finding it difficult to find people willing to work at their organizations, citing issues like high employee turnover, internal conflict, and employees not showing up for work anymore. There has been an outcry among workers for a new way to work, and The Happy Group can offer the solution.
The Happy Group's program is based on the revolutionary theories of Frederic Laloux. We aim to spread what we call the Evolutionary Model. What is unique about this model is the focus on an individuals' personal growth within a company. THG encourages companies to allow self-management and collaboration in employees. This creates a holistic approach to building a productive, and profitable organization.
The Happy Group offers different levels of implementation of our program based on the client's comfort, allowing for a gentle approach to change. The introductory level encourages employee trust, and non-combative communication to promote an open environment. Our advanced level would enable employees to manage themselves, with simplified staff functions, no job title, self-set salaries, and team hiring and firing, as examples.

As revolutionary as this system may seem, companies that work under this model. These include: Buurtzorg (a growing healthcare organization), FAVI (a french brass foundry), and fortune 500 company AES Corporations, among others.
The aim of The Happy Group is to use the most successful organizing force on the planet, Nature, as a model. That way, we build work cultures that are stable and profitability while encouraging trust, authenticity, personal growth, and contentment in its members—creating a workplace where people would be happy to go to work.
